The department of human machine and environment engineering (DHMEE), known as the teaching research section of No.505, was founded in 1959, originally by the name of “high-altitude facility”. In 1984, it was renamed to“aircraft environmental control and safety rescue”,and afterwards altered to “aircraft environment and safety supporting engineering” in 1998, which has been reserved for use until now. In 1981, the discipline was honored the right to grant master’s degree, and then, in 1990, it was confirmed as the first national unit for granting doctor’s degree. Since 2001, the discipline has been regarded as the only national core subject, and kept pioneering in its related field up to now. The DHMEE currently supports two national second disciplines: man-machine-environment engineering and refrigeration and cryogenic engineering, encompassing an academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering, 8 professors, 9 doctor tutors, 7 associate professors, 7 lecturers and engineers. It is favored with dozens of national and provisional foundation, annually totaling more than 20 million, and meanwhile its papers, included in SCI, EI, ISTP, accumulated to over 40 each year.
The discipline contains 7 stable research orientations as follows :
- Man-machine-environment system engineering
- Environment simulation technique
- Environment and human machine engineering
- Aircraft environment control and life supporting engineering
- Special refrigeration and air-conditioning technique
- Thermal protection technique of electronic equipment
- High-efficient heat transfer and energy-saving technique
The laboratory of DHMEE occupies more than 4000 square meters, consisting of man-machine-environment system engineering lab, ergonomics lab, solar energy lab, personal protection lab, advanced heat transfer lab, air quality lab and so on. The main equipment installations are established in the application of aircraft environmental control, aircraft oxygen system, hygrothermal power, aircraft anti-icing, thermal protection test of electronic equipment, solar energy refrigeration and air conditioning test, air quick-frozen test, etc. In addition, the laboratory is equipped with low-pressure air supplier, multiple devices, adjusting and measuring temperature and humidity, high-performance personal computers up to approximately 60, several projectors, plotters, eye trackers, electroencephalographies, mass spectrometers, and also holds a collection of over 5000 books and reference materials.
