摘要Abstract:
Concerns about the climate change due to the emissions of greenhouse gases, and the projected decline in fossil fuel production have put energy as the single most important problem facing humanity in the next fifty years. Securing clean, affordable energy for the long term is becoming one of the biggest challenges in the world. Nanotechnology is expected to play a significant role in revitalizing the traditional energy industries and stimulating the emerging renewable energy industries. This talk outlines the potentials of nanomaterials in clean energy applications with a particular focus on flow and heat related fields. Example topics will be covered including i) Nanomaterials for heat transfer intensification, ii) Nanoparticles for solar energy conversion, and iii) Nanoscale flow and heat transfer, as well as the discussion of the opportunities of nanotechnology in other energy sectors.
简介Biography:
Dongsheng Wen is a Chair Professor at the School of Chemical and Processing Engineering at the University of Leeds. He received his DPhil in Engineering Science from the University of Oxford, and had worked for seven years at the Queen Mary University of London prior to his current job. His research is focused at applied nanotechnology for energy solutions, i.e. engineering and utilizing unique properties of nanomaterials to enhance energy conversion and transportation processes. Example research topics include i) nanotechnology for oil and gas sectors, ii) nanofluids for heat transfer intensification, iii) nanofuels for energy storage and iv) nanowave for medical applications. He has published ~120 peer reviewed SCI papers, and has a current citation of ~2600 and H-Index=22 (Web of Knowledge). He is an elected Fellow of Royal Society of Chemistry (FRSC), Fellow of Energy Institute (FEI), Fellow of Institute of Nanotechnology (FIoN), Chartered Engineer (CEng), Chartered Scientist (CSci) and Visiting Professor of seven universities/institutes in China, Russia and Brazil.
